Touring Superleggera at Rétromobile 2025: A Celebration of Automotive Heritage and Italian Excellence

Jan 30, 2025

Touring Superleggera, the prestigious Milanese coachbuilder, is set to captivate automotive enthusiasts at Rétromobile 2025 with a showcase that seamlessly blends historical reverence and contemporary craftsmanship. At Stand K-068 in Hall 1, from February 5th to 9th, visitors will witness an extraordinary display featuring the impeccably restored 1959 Maserati 3500 GT, a fascinating "before and after" pairing with a 1961 barn-find example, and the latest limited-series Superleggera Veloce12 in the stunning Azzurro Cielo color. This showcase is more than just a display; it is an immersive journey into the essence of Pure Italianità.

A Masterpiece Restored: The "Dodge" Maserati 3500 GT

The Maserati 3500 GT, first introduced in 1957, was a defining moment for Maserati as it ventured into series production of road cars. Touring Superleggera originally designed this Grand Tourer with its innovative lightweight Superleggera aluminum construction, blending performance with timeless elegance.

At Rétromobile 2025, Touring Superleggera will present a painstakingly restored 1959 Maserati 3500 GT, brought back to its original splendor at their Milanese workshop. The vehicle’s authenticity and historical value are affirmed by its Maserati Classiche Certification, made possible through collaboration with Maserati Classiche. The mechanical restoration, entrusted to the renowned Candini Classiche, ensures that this masterpiece not only looks impeccable but also performs true to its heritage.

Adding to the intrigue, this 1959 Maserati 3500 GT carries a unique American legacy, having been owned by the Dodge family in California for decades before its return to Europe and its meticulous restoration. Visitors will have the rare opportunity to view this reborn classic alongside an unrestored 1961 Maserati 3500 GT barn-find example, offering a striking contrast that highlights the transformative power of Touring’s craftsmanship. Collectors will even have the opportunity to acquire this untouched gem and collaborate with Touring’s restoration experts to bring it back to life.

Superleggera Veloce12: A Tribute to Italian Excellence

The event will also mark the presence of the Superleggera Veloce12, Touring Superleggera's latest limited-series masterpiece. First unveiled at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, in August 2024, this naturally aspirated V12 grand tourer embodies modern performance while paying homage to Touring's historic aesthetic language.

At Rétromobile 2025, the Veloce12 will be showcased in a fresh Azzurro Cielo finish, drawing inspiration from legendary Touring designs such as the Alfa Romeo 8C 2900 B Lungo. The new color accentuates its updated design elements, sculptural lines, and timeless elegance. The car's naturally aspirated 5.5-liter V12 engine, delivering an exhilarating 503 hp, ensures that the Veloce12 is not just a beauty to behold but a symphony of power and driving pleasure.

The use of blue hues in Touring’s design heritage has been a defining feature, seen in models like the Disco Volante Spyder, Berlinetta Lusso, and Mini Vision Superleggera. This deep-rooted chromatic tradition continues with the Veloce12, making it an unmistakable Touring creation that celebrates the fusion of history and innovation.

A Sensory Celebration of Italian Culture

Beyond the exquisite automobiles, Touring Superleggera has curated an experience that encapsulates the finest elements of Italian culture. At their stand, guests will indulge in the artistry of Italian espresso, thanks to Faema’s iconic coffee machines, including the legendary E61 and the contemporary Faemina. Marking its 80th anniversary, Faema will also host an exclusive workshop on February 5th, offering guided tastings led by MUMAC Academy experts.

To complement the experience, Gruppo Ceretto will present a selection of their finest wines, including the acclaimed Ceretto Blangè and a variety of refined reds that reflect the rich winemaking traditions of the Langhe region. This seamless blend of automotive excellence, Italian heritage, and gourmet craftsmanship makes Touring’s presence at Rétromobile an unmissable experience.

Honoring Tradition, Embracing the Future

Touring Superleggera has long been synonymous with the preservation of automotive heritage. Over the years, the Milanese coachbuilder has restored some of the most iconic vehicles in history, including Gianni Agnelli’s Ferrari 166 MM and the highly sought-after Ferrari 250 models. Their expertise was further demonstrated with the restoration of a 1957 BMW 507, unveiled at Auto e Moto d’Epoca Bologna in 2023.

With the display of the Maserati 3500 GT and the Veloce12, Touring Superleggera continues to honor its legacy while looking toward the future. Visitors to Rétromobile 2025 will not only witness the finest in classic car restoration but also experience the evolution of design and performance through the Veloce12.
