Touring Superleggera at Retromobile 2025: A Celebration of Italian Craftsmanship

At Retromobile 2025, Touring Superleggera delivered an unforgettable display of automotive heritage and restoration excellence. The event, held from February 5th to 9th at the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles, provided an immersive experience of pure Italianità, where tradition and modern innovation met on display.

A Restoration Masterpiece: The 1959 Maserati 3500 GT

Touring Superleggera showcased its meticulous restoration expertise with the legendary 1959 Maserati 3500 GT. This iconic Grand Tourer, originally designed by Touring, had been lovingly revived in the firm’s Milanese workshop. Every detail was restored to honor its original glory—from the pioneering Superleggera lightweight aluminum construction to the rebuilt engine and mechanical components, expertly handled by Candini Classiche. The restored 3500 GT proudly earned the Maserati Classiche Certification of Authenticity, a testament to its historical significance and the high quality of the restoration.

In a compelling contrast, an unrestored 1961 barn-find example was displayed alongside the restored 1959 model. This rare “before and after” pairing offered visitors a unique glimpse into the transformative power of Touring Superleggera’s craftsmanship. The juxtaposition not only underscored the brand’s dedication to preserving automotive history but also highlighted the journey of a car that once belonged to the Dodge family in California before returning to its Italian roots.

Reviving a Legacy Across Continents

The storied history of the 1959 “Dodge” Maserati 3500 GT was an integral part of the presentation. Originally dispatched from Maserati’s Italian works on March 18th, 1959, the car embarked on a remarkable journey. It became a cherished possession within the Dodge family in California, passed down through generations, before making its way back to Europe. This extraordinary voyage embodied the enduring allure of Italian design and the strength of heritage, a narrative that resonated deeply with automotive enthusiasts.

Introducing the Superleggera Veloce12: A Tribute to Pure Italianità

Complementing the restoration showcase was Touring Superleggera’s latest creation, the limited-series Superleggera Veloce12. Presented in a striking Azzurro Cielo paint, the Veloce12 celebrated updated design elements that paid homage to the brand’s illustrious past. Having made its debut last summer at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering in California, the naturally aspirated V12 model delivered 503hp from its 5.5-liter A/C engine. This technical refresh maintained the visceral, analogue driving experience that had long been associated with classic Italian Grand Tourers, while also embracing modern performance standards.

The Veloce12’s bold chromatic personality—anchored by shades of blue that have been a hallmark of Touring’s design heritage—connected the car to past icons such as the Alfa Romeo 8C 2900 B Lungo, Disco Volante Spyder, and Berlinetta Lusso. Its updated logo, inspired by designs from the 1930s, further deepened this connection, reinforcing the timeless narrative of Italian elegance and innovation.

An Immersive Experience in Italian Culture

Retromobile 2025 was more than just an automotive showcase. It was a celebration of Italian culture and craftsmanship. Touring Superleggera collaborated with esteemed partners to enhance the experience:

Faema, marking its 80th anniversary, offered an authentic espresso journey through its legendary E61 and contemporary Faemina machines, complemented by an exclusive barista workshop led by MUMAC Academy.

Gruppo Ceretto enriched the event with a selection of exquisite wines that embodied the elegance and heritage of Italian winemaking.

Maserati Classiche provided detailed insights into the restored 3500 GT’s heritage, deepening visitors’ appreciation for the car’s storied past.

These collaborations created a multisensory experience that intertwined the pleasures of fine coffee, exquisite wine, and automotive artistry, all under the banner of pure Italianità.

A Lasting Impression

Touring Superleggera’s presence at Retromobile 2025 not only rekindled its historical bond with Maserati but also reaffirmed its position as a guardian of Italian automotive heritage. By presenting the fully restored 1959 Maserati 3500 GT alongside an unrestored barn-find example, and introducing the striking Superleggera Veloce12, the brand delivered a compelling narrative of transformation, legacy, and pure Italian elegance. The event left an indelible mark on collectors and enthusiasts alike, celebrating a legacy that continues to inspire generations.
