Peugeot RC Hybrid4 - Environmental efficiency with motoring passion

Feb 11, 2025

The Peugeot RC Hybrid4, a concept car born from the passion and expertise of Peugeot’s stylists and engineers, is a true masterpiece that combines environmental efficiency with motoring passion. This "GT" coupe is the missing link between the RC ♠ and RC ◆ concept cars revealed in 2002 and the 908 RC, showcased at the 2006 Paris Motor Show.

The RC Hybrid4 is a laboratory of future ideas, bringing together stylistic, engineering, and technological innovations in a single vehicle. It is a versatile car with four doors, four seats, and four-wheel drive, powered by a highly innovative electric/petrol hybrid architecture (HYbrid4 technology).

With a potential output of 230 kW/313 bhp, the RC Hybrid4 aimed to deliver high performance while also minimizing its impact on the environment with CO2 emissions of 109 g/km in the combined cycle, or zero emissions in electric mode. This car exemplifies the idea that respect for the environment and driving pleasure can coexist.

The design and development of the RC Hybrid4 was a meticulous process that involved a team of passionate stylists and engineers. The vehicle's architecture was optimized for both style and performance, with a central 1.6 litre THP engine at the rear and a 70 kW electric motor under the bonnet. This innovative hybrid system allowed the car to be driven in electric mode, petrol engine mode, or both for extra power, all while maintaining four-wheel drive for optimal road holding.

The exterior of the RC Hybrid4 is a visual delight, with an aerodynamic profile highlighted by LED headlamps, a plunging window line, and muscular wheel arches. The interior is designed with high-quality materials like leather, aluminium, and carbon, creating a modern and sporty ambiance. The digital displays and touch screen controls add a futuristic touch to the cabin, enhancing the driving experience.

The RC Hybrid4's structure and suspension were optimized for weight reduction and rigidity, with a space-frame aluminum body and innovative kineticTM H2 CES suspension system. The car's aerodynamic specifications were carefully studied to achieve a low drag coefficient and optimal cooling for the engines.

This environmentally-friendly car offered a dynamic driving experience, with a top speed of 295 km/h and a 0-100 km/h acceleration in 4.4 seconds. The RC Hybrid4 was a true testament to Peugeot's commitment to sustainability without compromising on driving pleasure.

In conclusion, the Peugeot RC Hybrid4 was a groundbreaking concept car that embodied the perfect balance between environmental efficiency and motoring passion. It showcased the future of automotive technology while keeping the essence of driving pleasure alive. The RC Hybrid4 was a true marvel that set the stage for the next generation of eco-friendly and performance-driven vehicles.
