The Carava is a one-of-a-kind vehicle born from the dreams of designers Bruce Anderson and Joe Gasper. Unlike typical kit cars, the Carava represents a unique blend of creativity and hard work.
Inspiration Behind the Carava
Joe Gasper’s love for exotic cars like Lamborghini, Ferrari, and Porsche began in his teenage years. Inspired by his family friend Tom Gale, a former Chrysler executive involved in the production of the Prowler and Viper, Gasper decided to create his own version of an exotic car. Drawing on his experience with Corvettes and custom builds, he set out to design the Carava as a “poor man’s version” of luxury sports cars.
The Design Process
Gasper teamed up with Bruce Anderson in Oklahoma, and together they spent a year and a half refining the design. Anderson crafted the fiberglass body parts and frame, which laid the groundwork for the project.
Building the Carava wasn’t straightforward. After receiving the components, Gasper dedicated an additional five years to assemble the car from scratch. Unlike typical kit cars, everything—from the frame to unique brackets—was custom-made. Along the way, he received valuable assistance from friends and local experts, which helped him overcome various challenges.
