Concept Car Of The Day: 2012 Hyundai HND-7 Hexa Space

Jul 02, 2024

At the Auto Expo 2012 in New Delhi, Hyundai Motor Company made headlines with the world premiere of its innovative multi-purpose vehicle concept, Hexa Space. The concept was aimed at urban families in emerging markets, offering a unique and versatile seating configuration to maximize utility and space.

Hexa Space featured eight hexagonally shaped seats that could be configured in multiple ways to cater to different needs. Whether it was folding flat for heavy hauling or creating a limousine-like function, the seats were designed to adapt to the lifestyle of young urban families. The unique design of the seats allowed for a spacious interior without compromising on the overall width of the vehicle, making it perfect for maneuvering through crowded city streets.

One of the standout features of Hexa Space was its innovative sliding rear doors, which made entry, exit, and loading effortless. The interior was equipped with high-tech features such as a touch-screen center console, push-button shifter, and a cluster ionizer air purifier. Multiple storage spaces were cleverly integrated into the interior to provide convenience for passengers.

Under the hood, Hexa Space was powered by Hyundai’s Kappa 1.2-liter turbo GDI engine, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. The vehicle shared a platform with Hyundai’s compact ix20, which contributed to its narrow overall width and maneuverability.

Overall, Hexa Space was a symbol of Hyundai’s commitment to “New Thinking. New Possibilities.” The concept showcased Hyundai’s Fluidic Sculpture design language and demonstrated their dedication to creating innovative solutions for the evolving needs of customers in emerging markets.
