The Acura "Advanced Sports Car Concept" made its world debut at the 2007 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. This show-stopping concept provided a glimpse of the design direction for the successor to the Acura NSX.
Designed to take exotic sports car styling to a new level, the concept incorporated a powerful front-mounted V-10 engine and a high-performance, rear-wheel-drive version of Acura's Super Handling All-Wheel Drive™ (SH-AWD™). Honda Motor Co., Ltd. president & CEO, Takeo Fukui, expressed that the Acura brand would always be a home for people who love to drive, with advanced technology matching their passion for performance.
The concept's exterior showcased a dynamic fusion of advanced technology and emotion, with deeply sculpted lines and embossed air vents hinting at the powerful engine beneath the hood. The concept retained subtle cues from its predecessor, the NSX, with LED headlights that mimicked the pop-up headlights of the first generation NSX.
Featuring grippy performance tires, carbon ceramic brake discs, and aggressive wheel arches, the concept had a bold and aggressive appearance. The low slung cabin was constructed entirely of tinted glass and had flush mounted door handles for a clean and aerodynamic look. The carbon fiber underbody and quad exhaust pipes further communicated the concept's high performance potential.
The Acura "Advanced Sports Car Concept" was designed by Acura's Los Angeles-based design team and showcased at the new Acura Design Center. With dimensions of 78.6 inches width, 181.5 inches length, 48.1 inches height, and a 108.8 inch wheelbase, the concept represented the ultimate exotic sports car of the future.
