Lincoln, which established the full-sized luxury SUV segment with Navigator, revealed a new pickup truck worthy of the Lincoln star. The Mark LT combined the luxury and design elegance of Lincoln with the functionality of America’s best-selling truck. It was part of Lincoln-Mercury’s plan to introduce 11 new products in six new segments within the next four years.
The Mark LT made its debut at the 2004 North American International Auto Show, marking a new chapter in Lincoln’s renaissance. This luxury pickup truck was one of five new Lincolns that were set to be introduced, offering a unique blend of functionality and luxury.
Throughout its history, Lincoln had used the Mark name to signal a truly special vehicle. The Mark LT was the first pickup truck to bear the Mark name, upholding the tradition of a vehicle that stands apart from all others.
"The Mark LT offers a level of luxury and sophistication never before seen in a pickup truck," said Darryl Hazel, Lincoln-Mercury president. "This is a Lincoln for people who own land and have active lifestyles."
The Mark LT was built on Ford’s new F-150, a proven workhorse and America’s best-selling pickup for 27 years. It was available in both 4x2 and 4x4 configurations, offering four full-size doors and a 5.5-foot box.
Production began in early 2005 at Ford’s Dearborn Truck Plant in Michigan, with the Mark LT show vehicle providing a strong indication of what the production version would look like. The exterior design featured chrome accents, a dominant grille, wide tail lamps, and thick spoked wheels.
Inside, the Mark LT offered a modern design interpretation of Lincoln’s heritage, with lavish use of premium leather, metallic finishes, and textured aluminum accents. It was a harmonious balance of materials, providing enough contrast to be visually interesting.
The Mark LT was powered by a 5.4-liter, 3-valve Triton™ V-8 engine that produced 300 horsepower and 365 foot-pounds of torque. It delivered a comfortable, isolated ride with balanced communication between the vehicle and driver.
Safety features included Ford’s Personal Safety System™, occupant classification sensing, and the BeltMinder™ safety belt reminder system, offering outstanding occupant protection.
Overall, the Mark LT was a true fit for Lincoln, combining authentic pickup truck capabilities with unique elegance. It was a fully functional luxury pickup truck that offered a superior driving experience for those who wanted to travel well even when hard at work.
