CAV Introduces the GT MkII as the Next Generation of Its GT40-Inspired Supercar

Jun 20, 2026

CAV has unveiled the GT MkII, a new restomod supercar that succeeds the company's long-running series-production GT. Developed from 27 years of GT40 experience, the GT MkII represents the next chapter for the manufacturer, combining a design rooted in the legacy of the original GT40 with a comprehensive suite of modern technologies.

At the heart of the GT MkII is a 4.2-litre twin-supercharged V8. The engine choice serves as a deliberate reference to the past while forming a central part of the car's identity. Alongside the V8, the GT MkII incorporates a range of contemporary systems, including active aerodynamics, all-wheel drive, ABS, electronic stability control, traction control, airbags and a semi-automatic transmission.

According to CAV, these technologies have been integrated to make the authentic and visceral driving experience more accessible while preserving the character that has defined the company's GT40-inspired models over nearly three decades of development.

The unveiling of the GT MkII coincides with the 60th anniversary of one of the most significant moments in endurance racing history. On this day in 1966, the GT40 achieved its famous 1-2-3 finish at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, a result that cemented its place in motorsport history.

To mark the anniversary, CAV has also introduced the GT MkII 60th Anniversary Edition. Limited to 40 examples, the special series has been created to commemorate the landmark Le Mans victory alongside the company's regular production models.

The first example has been presented in Miles Blue Metallic. Only 20 of the 40 Anniversary Edition cars will be finished to this specification. CAV states that the anniversary models are distinguished from the standard series-production cars through performance enhancements, while also featuring precious metals and antique artefacts as part of their specification.

The 60th Anniversary Edition programme will ultimately consist of three separate limited-edition variants. Following the debut of the first model, two additional editions with increasingly limited production numbers are planned to complete the collection.

With the GT MkII, CAV begins a new era for its GT40-inspired line-up while simultaneously marking six decades since the original GT40's defining victory at Le Mans.
