2013 Volar-E breaks cover

Feb 22, 2013

a new electric supercar is about to emerge in a period time of just one week. named volar-e, the model comes from a spanish automotive engineering company applus+idiada which has been selected by european comission last year to design and build a high performance electric vehicle.

jointly developed together with the main partner - croatian company rimac - the volar-e prototype has been created in a record time of approximately just three months. it will feature lightweight carbon fiber bodywork, tubular chrome-molybdenum chassis as well as rimac's batteries. in addition to that the car will integrate a 4wd system with regenerative braking which will enable the volar-e to save and recover energy. even more, this spanish prototype will be equipped with state-of-the-art infotainment systems giving best in-car communications practice available now.

regarding the technical side, the volar-e will get a 10-modules rimac's battery system having total voltage of 640v and 38kwh of energy. this system will power four in-wheel electric motors which together will generate a maximum power of 800hp and enormous torque of 1500nm. true supercar specifications they are!

currently, there is no word if this project will be developed further into production version. however, keeping in mind that rimac's own concept_one was a real stunner at the 2011 frankfurt motor show, the spanish alternative - the volar-e should be anything but less intriguing.

the world premiere of the applus+idiada's supercar takes place at the circuit de catalunya on the 28th of february. we will, surely, keep you updated!
