In 2009, Mate Rimac founded Rimac Automobili with a vision: to create the ultimate all-electric hypercar. Fifteen years later, this vision has been realized as he takes delivery of his personalized Rimac Nevera, a car that embodies his dream of peak performance.
Knowing every detail of the Nevera, Rimac had a clear vision for his car's customization. Rimac Automobili offers near-limitless personalization options, allowing Mate’s vision to be translated perfectly into reality. Almost every component of the Nevera is crafted in-house in Croatia, from intricate metal parts to flawless paint finishes and custom designs.
For his Nevera, Rimac chose a full carbon body tinted in red, accented with natural bare carbon fiber. The bespoke Carbon 3 finish required meticulous attention to detail, ensuring the carbon fibers flowed seamlessly across complex surfaces and panels. The clear-coating process had to be precise, as any imperfections could lead to cracks and require restarting the process.
Hand-painted Croatian flags adorn the side mirrors, and a lightning motif under the rear spoiler pays homage to the Mediterranean storms that inspired the car's name. Rimac’s pride in his Croatian roots is evident in these details, highlighting his dedication to his home country.
Inside the Nevera, customization options are extensive. Mate chose an asymmetric trim, predominantly black on one side and red on the other, along with personal motifs like embroidered images of Solinjanka. The interior can be tailored with various materials and colors, from Napa leather to Alcantara, with metal surfaces anodized in a wide array of colors.
Reflecting on the experience, Mate Rimac said, “It’s kind of a crazy experience to be a customer of your own company, and I probably wasn’t the easiest customer either. Just like with all our customers – there was a process of co-creation; sharing ideas, evolving them, and then finally perfecting them until you have a Nevera that stands alone and speaks to you personally. The result not only looks great but it tells an important story for me.”
The delivery of his personalized Nevera marks a significant milestone in Mate Rimac’s journey from a visionary entrepreneur to a creator of one of the world's most advanced hypercars.
