The Dragoon, created by eccentric Swedish inventor Hilmer Svensson, is a one-of-a-kind car built from parts of eight different vehicles. Originally a Chrysler Valiant that had been severely damaged, Svensson saw potential in its chassis and mechanical components, leading him to embark on a unique transformation. The Dragoon features a hood from a Jaguar E-Type, although Svensson modified it to fit by shortening the front end. The windshield came from a Pontiac, and the rear window was sourced from a Plymouth Barracuda. The car’s rear wings were altered with Volvo P1800 tailfins and customized with Chevrolet Impala taillights.

In his quirky approach to engineering, Svensson even welded the Valiant’s front and rear doors together and mounted an Opel Rekord roof crosswise, complete with a sunroof. The side windows, built from P1800 glass, couldn’t be wound down but were instead pushed sideways—a solution that proved impractical in high winds and rain.

Despite its oddities, the Dragoon covered over 200,000 kilometers, used daily by Svensson throughout the 1970s. With additional customizations like retractable headlights inspired by the Lamborghini Miura, chrome exhaust pipes, and a spoiler between the rear wings, the Dragoon was both an artistic and functional marvel. Although eventually retired due to its builder's health, this remarkable vehicle stands as a testament to Svensson’s imaginative craftsmanship, combining elements from Chrysler, Jaguar, Volvo, Pontiac, and more into an unforgettable piece of automotive history.
