Bos Eyssen

NETHERLANDS

time-calendar.png 1953

Bos Eyssen's car, originating from a Renault 4, was a unique racing project initiated by Rotterdam driver and Renault dealer Hans Kreisel. Kreisel began by designing a lightweight chassis made from thin-walled tubing, crafted by an aircraft construction specialist. When Kreisel chose not to complete the project, the chassis was passed to P. Bos Eyssen, who focused on aerodynamics by creating a scaled-down model and conducting wind tunnel tests. This led to the construction of the car's final aluminum body by the Alkmaar company Jac. Met.

In racing trim, the car was notably light at just 510 kilograms, featuring a minimalist interior and small racing windows. It successfully competed at Zandvoort in 1953 and 1954. A road version with a larger windscreen and more comfort features was considered during its design. The car was offered for sale in road configuration in 1965 but later disappeared from view.
