Autoped

CZECHIA

time-calendar.png 1920

The Autoped car, showcased at the XII International Motor Show in Prague in 1920, was an innovative vehicle created by Václav Zbořil, a Czech politician and inventor. Zbořil, known for his factory producing wax goods and several patents, designed the Autoped to navigate the winter terrain of Hostýn peak. The front wheels were replaced by a unique "walking" mechanism, powered by an engine-driven crank. This inventive design echoed the work of Jakub Hron, a professor who experimented with similar locomotion systems in the 19th century. Though unconventional, the Autoped was a remarkable display of early Czech ingenuity in vehicle design.
