Mercury [6] - Bahamian Concept

time-calendar.png 1953

Reflecting the suntan of a vacationer to the warm shores of the Bahama Islands, Lincoln-Mercury Division has introduced "The Bahamian"--a 1953 Mercury hardtop coupe given special treatment by Ford Motor Company engineering stylists. It may be seen in the Lincoln and Mercury exhibit at the Chicago Auto Show.

A study in tropical browns, "The Bahamian" is painted tan, with dark Bahamian brown roof. The suntan theme glows even warmer in the interior trim, a striking combination of brown, tan and cream.

Seat bolsters and facings are tan tropical print vinyl, as is the upper portion of the door, quarter panel and cowl, with welts of tan extruded vinyl.

Cushions and lower seat backs are cream fibre weave vinyl, as are the lower portion of the doors, the cowl and quarter panel.

The roof lining and sun visors are cream fibre grain vinyl, the visors bound with contrasting brown vinyl. The floor covering of brown broad fibre weave vinyl emphasizes the earthy, tropical treatment.

Interior chrome metal parts gleam bright against the Bahamian brown instrument panel and the tan and brown airplane type instrument cluster. The steering wheel has been painted tan pearl essence.
