Venom Ute Has Plenty Of Bite
Take a brand-new XR8 ute add about $40,000 worth of aftermarket accessories and customisation, throw in a slick paint job and what do you get? ? The Ford "Venom" ute.
The Venom is powered by a Herrod modified 5.0 litre, fuel injected V8 engine fitted GT40P heads. Stopping power is provided by 14-inch, 4-piston Harrop ventilated discs with curved cross-slots. A five-speed manual transmission, limited slip differential and ABS complete the mechanical line-up.
The cabin interior has been customised to include a unique instrument panel and door trims with seats trimmed in grey suede. A 'Millenium' Momo steering wheel and gear knob complete the interior picture.
A Clarion audio/video system with a 360 watt amplifier and a high contrast colour screen can fill the cabin with sights and sound.
Finished in "Wizard' blue the Venom has been lowered by around 60mm from standard and sits on 18" 'Boyd Coddington' Billet Alloy Wheels fitted with Dunlop SP Sport 9000 255/35ZR18 tyres.
A custom-made lift-up tonneau has also been added.
The Venom will be the centrepiece of the 'Built Ford Tough' display at the 1999 Sydney International Motorshow.
