SsangYong - C200 Aero

time-calendar.png 2009

Original name: 쌍용 자동차C200 Aero

The concepts of C200’s exterior and interior are revealed to the public, raising the expectation for its upcoming launch.

The main concept ‘Attractive Dynamism’ has been successfully transformed into a design that combines the strength of SUV and the sophisticated look of a luxury sedan. It is more than Crossover Utility Vehicle. It visualizes a new concept as Compact Urban-styling Eco-friendly Vehicle.

C200 is built on a completely new platform with an all new environmentally-friendly engine and a nimble, sensitive 6-speed automatic transmission.

The size of C200 is optimal for a compact CUV, and the vehicle boasts of its excellent fuel economy adopting a state-of-art air intake/exhaust and electronic control system. C200 also satisfies EURO V exhaust standards known as the next-generation European environmental regulation.

At the 2009 Seoul Motor Show displayed two versions of C200: natural green ECO and deep purple AERO. The ECO, in fresh and lively green color, magnifies its environmentally-friendly image. The exterior look is in perfect harmony with its sophisticated interior design that faithfully responds to the ergonomic needs. The AERO, on the other hand, projects a strong and daring image as a new car.

PRESS RELEASE

SSANGYONG AT THE SEOUL MOTOR SHOW

C200 nearer to production

Ssangyong will be showing an almost production-ready example of its new C200 crossover utility car at the Seoul Motor Show in South Korea, opening on April 2.

The company says that the C200 unveiled at the show will closely resemble the production C200 scheduled to be launched later this year. SsangYong will also show a new diesel hybrid version of the Kyron.

The C200 concept was first unveiled at the Paris show last October and is the first new model in the broadening of the SsangYong range. The C200 is a modern, contemporary urban passenger car with styling by Giugiaro's ItalDesign in Italy. It is similar in size to a Toyota RAV4, a Honda CRV and a Nissan Qashqai and with a 2,640mm wheelbase, is slightly longer than a VW Tiguan.

The C200 differs from current SsangYong models in that it uses monocoque construction to ensure a passenger car look, feel and comfort. The platform is adaptable, and the chassis can be used for front wheel drive and four wheel drive passenger cars.

The drivetrain is completely new. An advanced 2.0 litre diesel engine has been designed for lower noise levels and reduced vibration. The engine produces 175 hp and complies with Euro V exhaust emissions requirements as well as producing lower CO2 levels. Manual and automatic transmissions are likely to be available, with the show car having a six-speed auto.

Extensive use of aluminium suspension components reduces weight and together with a low centre of gravity, ensures a comfortable and compliant ride with the kind of sharp and agile handling demanded by European drivers.

Work has already started on the production line for the new car, ahead of schedule.

PRESS RELEASE:

SSANGYONG SHOW C200, HYBRID TECHNOLOGY AND NEW ENGINES AT SEOUL MOTOR SHOW

SsangYong's new C200 model has been shown at the Seoul Motor Show in two versions and with three choices of power. The car is scheduled for production later this year and should reach the UK inside 12 months.

The C200 is smaller and lighter than current SsangYong models, promising much improved fuel economy and lower CO2 emissions. Dubbed a compact urban vehicle (CUV), the C200 Eco uses diesel hybrid power and the Aero version has a choice of a high torque 2.0 diesel or turbocharged 1.8 litre petrol engines.

SsangYong expects class-leading fuel economy and CO2 emissions reduced by 50 per cent in the Eco. Show cars have a six-speed auto transmission, but manual versions will also be available.

Styled by Giugiaro's ItalDesign in Italy, the C200 has a 2.65m wheelbase with an overall length of 4.4m. The car will undergo Euro NCAP crash testing before coming to market.

SsangYong also showed a diesel hybrid version of it's Kyron model at the Seoul Show.
