Moskvich 2144 Istra was a single mock-up concept car built around 1991, developed in response to a Soviet government call for advanced designs anticipating the year 2000. It featured a single side door that opened upward instead of a conventional pair. With a diesel engine, the manufacturer stated a fuel consumption of 2.2 to 3.5 liters per 100 kilometers.
