Press release:

Perodua showcases new lifestyle concept car and green engine

Perodua is showcasing its next generation prototype model – the Perodua Bezza and its future green engine the Precious Metal-free Liquid-feed Fuel Cell at the Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show 2010!
Sleek, modern, and practical – the Bezza is ideal for urban youths looking for something bigger to efficiently traverse the concrete jungles of Malaysia and for long journeys.

“Inspired entirely by Malaysian designers, we believe that this will be the benchmark for compact vehicles in the not-too-distant future, Perodua Managing Director Datuk Aminar Rashid Salleh said.

Aminar said that the Bezza symbolises Perodua’s never-ending quest to drive Malaysia’s dreams and capabilities in styling vehicles with the distinction of being truly 100% Malaysian.

He said that the Bezza will be the basic blueprint for Perodua’s medium term vehicles.

Perodua’s exhibition, themed “Ecology, Economy and Exciting for Everyone”, also showcases our engine development road map that will revolutionise the automotive industry, in cooperation with our best technical partner, Daihatsu Motor Company of Japan – from the maximisation of the current internal combustion engine to the introduction of the Precious Metal-free Liquid-feed Fuel Cell.

“As a compact car manufacturer, we choose this path as the internal combustion engine still has a lot of life in it and we believe that the reduction of our carbon emission by producing more efficient engines that will be more cost effective and will leave a smaller carbon footprint to the environment,” he said.

“In order to provide compact cars that are affordable by the next generation, we are pursuing the ultimate of conventional technologies rather than hybrid technologies that tend to be too expensive for the average motorists,” he said.

The final destination of this green engine roadmap is the Precious Metal-free Liquid-feed Fuel Cell – the first of its kind in Malaysia.

This fuel cell system is the best alternative for the internal combustion engine as it does not use precious metals as well as produce zero carbon emission and therefore will be environmentally friendly and cost effective.
