Featuring a canopy-like cockpit opening that replaced the conventional doors, the breathtaking Opel CD appeared at the 1969 Frankfurt Show. Built on a Diplomat floor pan and powered by a 5.4-liter Chevrolet V-8, it convincingly showed the Opel designers’ ambitions and what could be done given a blank sheet of paper and an unfettered hand.
