HBK Saar - 276 Concept

GERMANY

time-calendar.png 2006

The 2006 HBK Saar 276 Concept is a striking exploration of automotive minimalism, born from a provocative design challenge: what would a truly iconic yet radically reduced vehicle look like? Conceived in 2005 and brought to life through a year of dedicated collaboration, the 276 is a bold, purist vision—an uncompromising driving machine distilled to its very essence.

At its core lies a folded metal structure, deliberately raw and unrefined, partially clad with just two fiberglass elements. These sculptural pieces integrate then-groundbreaking LED lighting and are finished in a unique self-luminous paint that glows in the dark—amplifying the concept’s futuristic character and visual presence even in low light.

Far more than a design study, the HBK Saar 276 made its debut at the 2006 AMI Motor Show in Leipzig, captivating audiences with its radical aesthetic. It went on to be displayed at the Prototyp Museum in Hamburg, and currently resides at the Museum Industriekultur in Nuremberg, standing as a testament to design purity and visionary thinking.
