BYD Ocean-V Concept

2026

The BYD Ocean-V concept made its debut at the Beijing Auto Show as an experimental family vehicle developed beyond the usual divisions between SUV, saloon and MPV. Its exterior follows the company’s Ocean Aesthetics design language, combining a short front section, steep windscreen, tall passenger compartment and almost vertical rear. A continuous dark glass area separates the turquoise body from the roof, while large wheels and substantial lower protection give the vehicle an upright crossover stance.

Its main subject is a configurable interior with driving, cinema and camping modes. In cinema mode, the seats move into position, the steering wheel retracts, the dashboard turns away and a separate display rises into view. Camping mode allows the seats to fold and rotate, creating an area for conversation, dining or sleeping for three occupants. Portable magnetic lights and speakers from the Glowing Jellyfish kit can also be used inside or outside the vehicle.

BYD has not released dimensions, powertrain specifications, performance figures or a production date for the Ocean-V. The concept remains an interior and design study, although the manufacturer has confirmed that some of its adaptable cabin ideas will gradually appear in future production vehicles.
