Harroun [2]

UNITED STATES

time-calendar.png 1917-1922

The Harroun was created by Ray Harroun, the winner of the first Indianapolis 500 race in 1911. The Harroun was powered by a 4-cylinder engine, with a three speed transmission, and had a 107-inch wheelbase. 1917 prices were roadsters selling for $595, and sedans selling for $850. The company stopped car manufacture in April 1918 to fulfill a government contract for munitions. Unfortunately for Harroun, having exhausted capital for the munitions contract, and with the postwar recession in full swing, the Harroun Motor Corporation was put in the hands of the receiver in mid-1922. Just over 1,100 cars were built in six years of production.
