Epic EV

Epic Electric Vehicles was a California startup founded by Chris Anthony to develop high-performance electric vehicles across land and marine segments. Active from the late 2000s into the mid-2010s, the company operated in the greater San Diego/Vista area and publicized an electric wakeboard boat (Epic 23e) alongside an all-electric, three-wheeled sports car sold under the Torq brand. The Torq Roadster was presented as a driver-focused, track-capable “autocycle” with sub-4-second 0–60 mph performance claims, a peak output quoted at over 400 hp, and a price point around $65,000. Company materials and media coverage highlighted development drives, ride-and-drive events, and appearances at enthusiast gatherings.

By the later 2010s the brand’s activity diminished without evidence of sustained series production. Anthony later re-emerged with the revived Aptera venture, while Epic EV’s projects—including the Torq Roadster—remained niche, low-volume efforts.
