Dow [2]

1905-1906

Dow was an early automobile manufacturer based in Braintree, Massachusetts, founded by A.M. Dow around 1905. Initially, Dow produced vehicles for personal use, creating a car equipped with a four-cylinder Trebert engine, an A.O. Smith frame, and a body designed by Henry Emerson.

The interest in Dow's vehicle grew when several friends requested replicas of his personal car. As a result, at least eight Dow cars were registered in Massachusetts by 1907. However, there is no documented evidence to suggest that any additional vehicles were sold outside the state, leaving the extent of the brand's reach somewhat unclear. The company represents a small chapter in the early history of American automotive manufacturing.
