Davis Motorcar Company was established in Van Nuys, California, and operated from 1947 to 1949. The company was founded by Gan Davis, who was more recognized as a publicist than a car designer. Davis introduced a three-wheeled vehicle that he marketed as an advanced, aircraft-inspired automobile. The design was notable for its considerable length of 15 feet 5 inches (4.7 meters), which was substantial for a three-wheeled car.

The initial models of the Davis were equipped with a 2.2-liter Hercules four-cylinder engine producing 46 horsepower, while later versions featured a more powerful 2.6-liter Continental engine with 57 horsepower. Davis claimed that his vehicle could achieve a top speed of 116 miles per hour (187 km/h) and deliver 30 miles per gallon, although these assertions were later deemed exaggerated. The car's design included a wide single bench seat that could accommodate four passengers side-by-side, with Davis claiming it could fit five. A removable hardtop was also a standard feature.

Despite the ambitious plans, only 17 running prototypes were constructed, and production never commenced. The company had intended to sell the vehicle at a price of $1,400 in 1949. However, financial irregularities and unfulfilled promises to dealers, from whom Davis had secured approximately $1 million in franchise sales, led to legal troubles for Davis. Ultimately, he was incarcerated and agreed to refrain from returning to the automotive industry.
