Crompton MotorCarriage Company was established in Worcester, Massachusetts, and operated from 1902 to 1905. The company initially explored both steam and electric power for their vehicles but ultimately decided to focus on steam technology.

The Crompton vehicle featured a distinctive design, incorporating 24 separate fire-tube boilers arranged in two groups on either side of a four-cylinder horizontal engine. Power was transmitted to the rear axle via a vertical shaft. The body design was a two-seater, characterized by a curved dash that bore some resemblance to the Oldsmobile of the time.

The Crompton vehicle garnered positive attention at the 1903 Boston Automobile Show, indicating a promising start for the company. However, production was abruptly halted in May 1905 due to a factory fire, which ultimately led to the company's closure.
