Company founder George W Jagers built 12 cars by hand which were displayed at the Chicago Automobile Show in early 1917. Enough interest was shown that a factory was constructed later that year. In 1920 an order for 40 cars from Belgium resulted in the construction of a factory which could produce 200 cars a day. The order never eventuated and the company was in deep financial trouble, with no buyers when it was put up for sale in late 1922. All assets were sold in 1923 - one Comet was sold for only $35.
