The Bellefontaine Automobile Company was established in 1908 in Bellefontaine, Ohio. It succeeded the Traveler automobile, which was itself a development of the earlier Zent model. The Bellefontaine automobile was slightly larger than the Traveler and was equipped with a 32-horsepower four-cylinder engine and shaft drive. The company offered only one body style, a five-seater tourer, which was priced at $2,500.
The Bellefontaine automobile was produced for a single season before the company transitioned to operate as a garage and agency for other automobile brands. In 1917, the Bellefontaine Automobile Company merged with the Economy Motor Company of Tiffin, Ohio, which was known for manufacturing the Economy model.
