1954-today

TVR is a British manufacturer of sports cars currently producing the Griffith V8 and developing the Griffith EV. The company, originally founded as Trevcar Motors, has a history that includes models such as the T350, Chimaera, 430SE, V8S, 3000S Turbo, Cerbera, and Tuscan. In June 2013, Nikolay Smolensky sold TVR to TVR Automotive Ltd, led by Les Edgar and John Chasey. In 2015, TVR announced the development of a new model with Gordon Murray Design and Cosworth, based on a modified Ford 5.0L Coyote V8 engine. In 2016, TVR confirmed plans to build a new factory in Ebbw Vale with support from the Welsh Government. The Griffith V8 was unveiled at the Goodwood Revival in September 2017. Delays followed due to funding challenges, leading to the launch of a £25 million bond and a partnership with Ensorcia Metals in 2021. With Ensorcia’s support, TVR announced in 2022 that it would also develop an electric SUV and saloon. In December 2023, the company lost exclusive rights to the Ebbw Vale factory after the Welsh Government placed the facility on the open market.
