The Thruxton GT was a British kit car offered in the 2010s. It was conceived as a lightweight two-seat GT-style roadster that could be tailored to individual builders’ requirements. The chassis was designed to accept a wide variety of engines and gearboxes, ranging from small four-cylinder units such as Mazda’s MX-5 and Rover K-series to larger VAG turbo engines and even TVR V8s. Rear axles and differentials were typically sourced from Ford Sierra components, reflecting the flexible donor-based approach common in the kit car sector.
Bodywork was supplied in composite form, finished in gel-coat, with scope for customization of details such as windscreens and interior trim. At least one example successfully passed the UK Individual Vehicle Approval (IVA) test and was fully road-registered. Production numbers were extremely low, with only three cars reported to have been built, making the Thruxton GT one of the rarer British specialist cars.
