Engstrom

1900-1900

Engström was a Swedish automobile manufacturer founded in the early 1900s by Isak Engström. The company was based in Eskilstuna, Sweden, and is noted for producing one of the earliest petrol-engined cars in the country.

The vehicle developed by Engström featured a horizontal single-cylinder engine, which was adapted from an American-built stationary engine. This engine produced 3.5 horsepower and allowed the car to reach a top speed of 22 miles per hour (35 km/h). The design included a single chain for final drive and offered only one forward speed.

Despite the ambitious pricing of 4,000 kroner, only one prototype of the Engström car was ever constructed, marking the brand as a brief chapter in the history of Swedish automotive development.
