Asahi

1937-1939

Asahi was a Japanese automobile manufacturer established in 1937 by Miyata Works Ltd, based in Tokyo. The company was primarily known for its production of bicycles and had previously ventured into motorcycle manufacturing with two experimental models in 1916.

The Asahi brand focused on a brief foray into car production, which lasted until approximately 1939. During this period, the company developed a vehicle powered by a 730cc air-cooled, 2-cylinder engine that produced 16 horsepower. Notably, the car featured front-wheel drive and an independent suspension system for all four wheels, showcasing some advanced engineering for its time.

Despite its innovative design, Asahi's automotive venture was short-lived, and the company eventually returned to its core business of bicycle manufacturing.
