Jimenez built the 16-cylinder engine by combining the Yamaha engines into pairs to create two separate V8s. He then joined the pairs together in a common crankcase. This is how the system ultimately ended up with two crankshafts - one for each of the two V8s.
Fans were added in the front of two grilles in the back of the car to suck out hot air. Additionally, a diffuser was added between the dual exhaust to help improve overall airflow to the engine bay.
The Novia was then fitted with a system of gears which combined power from the two crankshafts to a single output to feed into a six speed manual transmission.
The Novia had an aluminum honeycomb chassis and as the French government required an alternative chassis for crash testing, this resulted in the whole project being abandoned.
