Autobleu began in business by supplying components for improving the appearance of the Renault 4CV, moving on to complete rebodying of the cars. 1953 saw the debut of a 2-door coupe with a wrap-around rear window styled by Ghia. These sold in small numbers, but were hampered by their price, more than double that of a regular 4CV saloon. Autobleu did not modify the 4CV's engine to improve performance. A convertible styled and built by Chapron was announced in 1955, along with a coupe based on the larger front-engined Renault Fregate, which never made it into production.
