Astra

1922-1922

Astra was a French automobile manufacturer established in 1922 by E. Pasquet in Paris. The company specialized in the production of cyclecars, which were lightweight vehicles designed to be economical and efficient.

The Astra cyclecar was equipped with a 496cc two-cylinder, two-stroke engine, which provided adequate power for its lightweight design. It featured a friction transmission system and utilized chain drive for its powertrain. Notably, the vehicle's frame was constructed from armored wood, a distinctive choice for the time. Additionally, Astra incorporated independent rear suspension using quarter-elliptic springs, contributing to a more comfortable ride.

Despite its innovative features, Astra's production was limited, and the brand did not achieve significant commercial success. The company eventually ceased operations, leaving behind a brief but interesting legacy in the early automotive industry.
