Braun

1900-1907

August Braun was a pioneering Austrian automobile manufacturer active from 1900 to 1907. He established the first Austrian motor vehicle factory, known as the Eerstr Ocstetreichische Motorfahrzeugfabrik, in Vienna in 1900. The company was later renamed August Braun & Co. in 1901.

Braun's initial automotive design was inspired by the French Victoria Combination, also referred to as PARJSIENNE. This early vehicle featured a 4-horsepower single-cylinder De Dion-Bouton engine that powered the front wheels and utilized a center pivot steering mechanism. As the company progressed, Braun developed more conventional automobiles, which were powered by a 4-horsepower engine of his own design. Initially, he partnered with Wilhelm Stiff, who later became associated with other notable car manufacturers, including Celeritas and Graf & Stift.
