Tauro Sport Auto – a new Spanish sportscar marque – was born in 2010. This startup, however, has taken the traditional formula of new age coachbuilding as its path to follow and vision to materialize – sensations and spirit at its best combined with harmony and elegance in design together with latest technologies available.
This Valladolid-based company aims to offer its clients quality, craftsmanship and exclusivity – all fused into a single limited-edition model – the Tauro V8 Spider.
It took around two years for this small team to finalize and build the first two examples of this neat roadster. True sportscar anoraks might easily notice that the base car for the Tauro’s first brainchild is nothing else but Pontiac Solstice. Neverthless, there is only technical components which Tauro has borrowed from its donor. Actually, this model is a completely rebuilt, redesigned and tailor-made handcrafted sports roadster which exactly follows company’s guidelines. For the interior and upholstery company offers luxury materials – including leather and Alcantara - and basically owner’s imagination is the only limit to customize the car.
The V8 Spider will be offered powered by a GM’s LS3 V8 6.1-liter engine delivering maximum power of 440 Nm and maximum torque of 586 Nm through a manual 6-speed transmission to rear wheels. For those wishing even more performance, modified engine versions of 480 and 530hp will be offered optionally. Considering that the new model weighs not more than a donor (1350 kg while standard Solstice is 1305 kg heavy) this guarantees lots of fun for the future owners of this machine.
Furthermore, owners of the V8 Spider most probably will have a little chance to meet each other because only 30 strictly limited examples will be built and destined worldwide. Nevertheless, exclusivity and elegance will not come cheap since the V8 Spider will cost around 100.000 euro. In addition to that, there is also a small talk that company is planning to present a V8 Coupe at the forthcoming Top Marques show in Monaco this April. If true, this version most probably will be even more stunning than its roofless predecessor. We will keep you informed.
