Faralli & Mazzanti teases a new supercar - Project M/03

Jul 09, 2011

Faralli & Mazzanti is a car manufacturer like no other. Established by Walter Faralli and Luca Mazzanti and based in Lari, Italy it has a sustained restoration experience of the most spectacular sportscars of the past including such unique automobiles like Cisitalia 202 and Maserati 450 Coupe Zagato "Il Mostro". However, the company also produces custom sportscars on special requests preserving the traditions of an Italian carrozzeria.

The company came to light in 2006 when their first all-original masterwork - a custom-made Antas V8 GT was unveiled at Top Marques show in Monaco. That was a very special place for a very special car. A 2+2 berlinetta, whose name means "Eagle" in the ancient Tuscan language of the Etruscans, features a hand-made all-aluminium bodywork and is powered by a powerful Maserati V8 engine developing 310 hp at 6000 rpm and 422 Nm at 3500 rpm. The car is built around a steel box. The suspension of the Antas utilizes flexible trasverse quadritalteral with spriral spring in front and rigid axle in the rear with telescopic shock absorbers and stabilising bar. A claimed top speed for this car is over 270 km/h. Notably, the Antas was created and built using no computer technologies which are so common today.

Following the traditions, the next model - Vulca V12 S - came out in 2008. A fabulous 2+2 coupe with a hand-beaten all-aluminium bodywork and aluminium chassis was presented as the first production of car to come out of F&M workshops. Neverteless, "a production car" in this case is a very conditional term. The Vulca will be built in a strictly limited number of only 10 unique examples while its predecessor Antas may remain a one-off. The car is available with three engine options - 6.0-, 7.1- and 7.5-liter V12 aggregates. The standard option develops 450 hp and 600 Nm while most powerful version has 600 horses under the hood and a maximum torque of 800 Nm. Respectivelly, the price tag for this version starts at 340.000 euro.

Additionaly, an even more special version of the Vulca has been created for Hungarian customers. Named Vulca Condorde Edition the car comes with some special features including white paintwork and matt black front spoiler. This version is also powered by a smalled V8 engine of 400 hp.

No matter such huge amounts of money, there will always be a clientele for such spectacular automobiles. Automobiles, created for people who are willing to wait at least twelve months before they can sit behind the wheel of their new toy.

The latest news coming from these Italian artisans are that they have a new model in the pipeline. Codenamed Project M/03 the car doesn't have an official name yet. The company has released a single teaser image and no other details other than it will be the first mid-engined F&M model are not known. However, the further information concerning this new Italian supercar will be available in the coming weeks, so stay tuned!
