Monterey, California - 15 August 2024 - At the prestigious Monterey Car Week, Automobili Pininfarina has made automotive history by unveiling the Battista Targamerica, the world’s first coach-built electric hypercar, meticulously crafted and delivered to an esteemed client. This stunning one-off model not only exemplifies the brand's mantra, "Dream Cars, Made Real," but also marks a significant milestone in the realm of bespoke luxury vehicles.
A Masterpiece of Design and Engineering
The Battista Targamerica is a product of unparalleled collaboration between Automobili Pininfarina's design and engineering teams, driven by the vision of a passionate car collector. This client, already a proud owner of the Battista, worked intimately with the design team to curate every detail of this unique vehicle. The result is a hypercar that stands as a testament to the art of coach-building, a process where every element is tailored to reflect the individuality and lifestyle of its owner.
A Star of Monterey Car Week
Making its world premiere at The Quail, A Motorsport Gathering, during Monterey Car Week, the Battista Targamerica captivated audiences with its striking presence. Following this exclusive debut, the vehicle will join one of the world’s most curated private collections of rare and iconic cars.
A Tribute to Automotive Heritage
The design of the Battista Targamerica draws inspiration from one of Pininfarina's most famous one-off creations, the 1986 Ferrari Testarossa Spider, crafted for Fiat Chairman Gianni Agnelli. This connection is subtly reflected in the car’s silver exterior with blue and black accents, reminiscent of the Testarossa Spider’s elegance. The horizontal lines of the rear luggage opening further echo this legendary predecessor, merging historical significance with contemporary innovation.
Bespoke Personalization at Its Finest
Automobili Pininfarina’s artisans in Cambiano, Italy, spent a year meticulously crafting the Battista Targamerica, ensuring that every detail aligned with the client’s vision. The car’s unique silver and blue color scheme, roofless design, and open-top driving experience are complemented by numerous personalized touches. One of the most distinctive features is a custom cigar holder and humidor, seamlessly integrated into the cabin. This luxurious element, capable of holding three cigars, is illuminated to match the car’s five driving modes, showcasing the fusion of luxury and technology.
Even the car’s name, "Battista Targamerica," was a collaborative effort, symbolizing both its open-top body style and its new home country. The exterior, finished in Argento Liquido Gloss with Iconica Blu Gloss accents, features painstakingly hand-finished details, including Iconica Blu pinstripes on the rear underwing. The unique five-spoke alloy rims with black anodized aluminum center caps and bespoke door plates further enhance its exclusivity.
An Electrified Performance Powerhouse
Despite its bespoke nature, the Battista Targamerica retains the performance credentials of the original Battista, sharing the title of Italy’s most powerful road-legal car. Powered by four independent electric motors and a 120kWh lithium-ion battery, this hypercar delivers an astonishing 1,900 horsepower and 2,340Nm of torque. Capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in under two seconds, with a top speed exceeding 300 km/h, it offers an unmatched driving experience, especially in its open-top form.
The Future of Coach-Built Luxury
Automobili Pininfarina's Chief Executive Officer, Paolo Dellachà, hailed the Battista Targamerica as a landmark achievement, stating, “This is a seminal moment, delivering our first coach-built one-off vehicle to a client. Battista Targamerica, like no other vehicle before, demonstrates the infinite possibilities our highly skilled team can design and engineer.”
The Battista Targamerica is more than just a car; it is a work of art, a fusion of advanced engineering and personalized luxury, and a bold statement of what the future of high-performance electric vehicles can be. With this launch, Automobili Pininfarina has not only delivered on its promise to create dream cars but has also set a new standard in the realm of bespoke automotive design.
As the first of its kind, the Battista Targamerica will forever stand as a one-of-a-kind vehicle, a true embodiment of the client’s vision and a testament to Automobili Pininfarina's dedication to craftsmanship and innovation.
