remember the gorgeous and mighty american supercar saleen s7? steve saleen is back and now he presents a brand new original design car! the saleen s1 is a humble but nimble brother of the s7.
the new model has a mid-mounted 2.5-liter turbocharged engine delivering 450hp and 475 nm through a six-speed manual gearbox. saleen s1 is said to be capable of running at a top speed of 290 km/h.
saleen's new vehicle follows trendy recipe of a lightweight and fast car. it uses aluminum and carbon fiber for its construction. this enables to save weight and to guarantee performance numbers matching world's best supercars, thus the s1's power-to-weight ratio is promising 370hp/ton.
the coupe's design is attractive and sleek. however, the question "where i have seen it before" running through the head is quite irritating. the overall looks reminds artega gt too much. anyhow, there's no official word about relations between these two.
the cockpit of the saleen s1 is created to be comfortable. leather, suede and alcantara are used for the interior of the car. six-speaker sound system is here to ensure pleasant ride, as well.
the production of the s1 is planned to start soon as saleen's factory in corona, california. company says that initial plan is to make 1500 examples per year and the starting price for this lovely newomer is 100.000 usd. deposit books are open right now.
