2014 Aurelio - a supercar from Philippines [VIDEO]

Jul 15, 2014

People keep dreaming supercars around the globe. If you cannot afford an ultra hi-tech and expensive automobile from world’s top-notch brands then how about to design and build one on your own? That’s the alternative way that many startups try today and which brings into radar very exotic prototype projects. Aurelio is one of them.

It is created by a small team of Philippine designers and engineers. Leaded by Bryan Factor and Brendan Aurelio this Asian supercar attempt now exists in two examples. First one is a prototype #1 painted in yellow while the second one - #2 – is painted in orange and is said to be a pre-production variant. Both cars uses rear mid-mounted Honda B16A and turbocharged Mitsubishi 4G63T engines respectively. Aurelios are built around a round steel tube chassis and are said to have a power-to-weight ratio of 457hp/ton as well as top speed of over 300 km/h.

Both Aurelio units were globally premiered at the Trans Sport Show at the end of May in Manila, Philippines. The small company Factor Aurelio Automobile (company name combines last names of both creators) still has to put finishing touches to the second car. Nevertheless, that at this moment both units look more like kitcars than high-performance supercars, efforts of their builders and results look pretty decent. To keep the car valuable and exclusive FAA aims to sell 10 units of the Aurelio at a price tag of 1.5-1.6 million Philippine pesos (25.300-27.000 euro, 34.400-36.700 USD). We’ll keep you informed regarding the progress of the Philippines first attempt to enter supercar class.
