The legendary marque – Minerva is about to return! Good news come from Belgium – the homeland of this historic brand which produced cars from the early beginning of previous century till the outbreak of the World War II. Minerva was the name synonymous to the luxurious and high quality automobiles being equally compared to Rolls-Royce. Actually, Charles Rolls was selling Minervas in England before the fame achieved together with Henry Royce. Now, after more than 70 years the world-famous name is set for resurrection.
Thanks to the enthusiasm of two initiators, Minerva Automobiles was relaunched in 2012. The new company has very ambitious plans not only to reintroduce the glorious marquee but also to do it significantly. The team behind the new Minerva is looking into the territory of ultra high performance supercars currently dominated by such examples like Bugatti Veyron, Koenigsegg Agera R, SSC Ultimate Aero, Hennessey Venom and others.
Minerva has just announced that they will be introducing a brand-new supercar model – the J.M. Brabazon which is expected to hit a top speed of over 400 km/h. The model will be named after Lord John Moore-Brabazon – a pioneer English aviator who in 1907 won the Circuit des Ardennes in a Minerva.
This new supercar whose external design looks like a combination of Audi R8, Koenigsegg and Porsche 918 Spyder will be powered by specially-developed hybrid V12 twin-turbo engine. It will be mounted centrally on the rear side while front wheels will get a pair of electric motors. The power aggregate will be coupled with a sequential 6-speed transmission. Thanks to the use of such material as carbon fiber and carbon-Kevlar, Minerva Automobiles claims the car will feature a stunning power-to-weight ratio of 1 kg/1hp.
The car might still be in early development stages since first released images is just a set computer renderings. Also, there is no word about pricing or official launch date. Anyhow, the legendary Minerva – the goddess of automobiles – is back.
