De Vries

NETHERLANDS

time-calendar.png 1985

The Bucciali replica built by Bart de Vries is an exceptional tribute to the legendary Bucciali marque, specifically inspired by the low-slung Bucciali TAV.2, a design by Saoutchik from the early 1930s. Handmade entirely by Bart de Vries, this one-of-a-kind automobile represents an impressive feat of craftsmanship, completed over five years from 1980 to 1985.

The body, crafted entirely from hand-modeled sheet metal, stands as a unique achievement with no molds used in its creation. The gleaming exterior features polished stainless steel components, including the custom exhaust system, which produces a deep, commanding sound. The car’s dimensions reflect its grand scale, measuring 580 cm in length with a low height of just 139 cm, resting on specially hand-cast aluminum flatbed rims paired with 24 x 700-inch tires.

Under the hood lies a robust straight-eight engine, displacing 5400 cc and generating 169 horsepower. The engine is equipped with hydraulic valve lifters and paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. The car delivers impressive performance, with a top speed of 150 km/h at 3200 rpm and a smooth cruising speed of 100 km/h at just 2000 rpm.

The steel chassis, registered from 1972, was custom-lowered to accommodate the bodywork. It features rear-wheel drive and a 1:3.84 ratio back axle for a balanced and powerful driving experience. The steering is power-assisted, and braking is handled by front double discs and rear drums, further enhanced by a power brake system.

Inside, the Bucciali replica exudes elegance, featuring an interior upholstered in cream-colored Connolly leather and linen, providing a luxurious, vintage feel.

This one-off masterpiece, finished in off-white, is a two-door cabriolet that encapsulates the forgotten spirit of the original Bucciali marque, brought to life through Bart de Vries' dedication to handcrafted automotive excellence.
