Gatsby Coachworks was an American vehicle manufacturer based in San Jose, California, known for producing neoclassic automobiles. The company built two models, the Gatsby and the Griffin.
The Gatsby was conceptually similar to the Clenet, combining an MG Midget body with a Ford chassis fitted with a long bonnet and running boards. Early versions were steel bodied, and from 1983 a fibreglass body option was also offered. The Gatsby was available as a fully assembled vehicle built on new Ford chassis, complete with a warranty, as well as in kit form for home assembly.
The Griffin, which had previously been marketed under the name Sceptre, was a more rakishly styled neoclassic kit car also sold by Gatsby Coachworks. Like the Gatsby, it used the MG cockpit area and windshield mounted on a Ford chassis, but all Griffins were built with fibreglass bodies.
In 1998, Gatsby Coachworks was sold to JPR Cars Ltd, located in Topping, Virginia.
