1967-1967

Carter Engineering Co. Ltd. was a British automotive manufacturer based in Tamworth, Staffordshire. The company was founded in 1967 by Alister Carter, who aimed to produce innovative vehicles.

In the spring of 1967, Carter announced the production of the Carter Coaster, a compact two-door saloon measuring just 98 inches (2500 mm) in length. The vehicle was powered by an electric motor, which was supplied by four 12V 40A batteries. Despite its unique design and concept, the Carter Coaster did not progress beyond the prototype stage, and the company ceased operations shortly thereafter.

Carter Engineering Co. Ltd. remains a footnote in the history of British automotive manufacturing, illustrating the challenges faced by early electric vehicle developers.
