1895-1931

Arrol-Johnston was a British automobile manufacturer that operated from 1895 to 1931. The company was initially established as The Mo-Car Syndicate Ltd in Glasgow, Scotland, where it began producing vehicles. In 1901, the company relocated to Paisley, Renfrewshire, and continued under the same name until 1905, when it was rebranded as The New Arrol-Johnston Car Co. Ltd.

The company underwent several name changes throughout its history, becoming Arrol-Johnston Ltd in 1913 and later Arrol-Johnston & Aster Engineering Co. Ltd in 1927. The manufacturing facilities were located in Heathall, Dumfries, where the company produced a range of vehicles, including luxury cars and commercial vehicles. Arrol-Johnston was known for its engineering quality and innovative designs during its operational years.

Despite its early success, the company faced financial difficulties in the late 1920s, leading to its eventual closure in 1931. The legacy of Arrol-Johnston is marked by its contributions to the early automotive industry in the United Kingdom, particularly in the development of high-quality vehicles.
