Gaius Automotive was a Taiwanese electric-vehicle company founded in 2010 and based in Taichung. In its earlier phase it concentrated on compact autonomous urban vehicles before shifting toward commercial electric delivery vehicles. Contemporary descriptions identified founder Anthony Wei and showed the company developing autonomous “pod” concepts around Renault Twizy-based platforms. The best-documented early variants were Autonomous Vehicle GEN 1 and Autonomous Vehicle GEN 2. GEN 1 was the first Twizy-derived platform; GEN 2 was a widened evolution with side-by-side seating, indicating a move from simple proof-of-concept packaging toward a more practical low-speed autonomous pod layout.
The early autonomous-vehicle program appeared to have been central to Gaius’s original identity, but the market focus later changed. By 2018 the company was publicly presenting the Rapide 3 electric cargo vehicle.
