Eole

1899-1901

Eole was a French automobile manufacturer active from 1899 to 1901, based in Paris. The company was established by J.B. Clement et Compagnie and focused on producing small vehicles known as voiturettes.

The initial model produced by Eole featured a 2.75 horsepower Aster engine, which was mounted at the front of the vehicle. This model utilized a shaft drive connected to a three-speed gearbox, with final drive accomplished through a chain mechanism. Rather than increasing the engine size for their subsequent model, the company opted to enhance performance by adding a second engine, resulting in a vehicle that produced 4.5 horsepower and could reach a top speed of 35 miles per hour (56 km/h).

In 1901, Eole introduced a new model equipped with a single 6 horsepower Buchet engine, which maintained a similar transmission system to that of the original voiturette. During this period, the manufacturer was listed under the name Van Berendonek. The company ceased operations shortly thereafter, marking a brief but notable chapter in the early history of automotive manufacturing in France.
