The HW car, designed and built by Håkan Wennberg in 1958, was the result of his long-standing desire to create a custom sports car. He found the foundation for the project in a wrecked Alvis TA 14 chassis and engine from the late 1940s. After a careful renovation, Wennberg reassembled the chassis, but with a lowered suspension to give the car a sportier stance and improved handling.
One of the most distinctive features of the HW car was its body, made from aluminum plates that were screwed in place. This unique construction method gave the car an unconventional and striking appearance. The hood was designed with a prominent extra air intake, further enhancing the car's tough and aggressive look, while also serving a functional purpose for engine cooling.
The HW car combined classic British engineering with Wennberg's personal design touches, resulting in a one-of-a-kind sports car that stood out for its distinctive style and craftsmanship.
