One of three Mercury "Visions of Styling" show cars displayed at the 1954 Chicago Auto Show was the Carnival two-door hardtop. Based on a Monterey, the eye-catching two-tone exterior featured a red roof over yellow body. Inside the cabin was a treatment of yellow confetti and siren red vinyl. The two other Mercury "visions"- the Resorter convertible and Fantasy four-door sedan - were also based on Montereys. Unfortunately, no images of those cars at the show have been located – yet!
